Look who's 2!

We celebrated Jonathan's birthday over a two day period last weekend.  His actual birthday was on Friday but his birthday party was on Saturday.  So on the evening of his actual birthday, we gave him a sandbox with sand toys in it.  It was a big hit!  But for some reason he wouldn't sit inside it.

The next morning before his birthday party we had one of his favorite breakfasts, waffles with fruit on top.
His brother even treated him to the royal treatment by letting him lay in his lap and stroking his ear for him while they watched cartoons.  Now THAT'S love!

We had a combined party with his cousin Mason since they were born only 2 days apart (in the same hospital, mind you).  We went with a tortoise and the hare theme.  Jonathan is the tortoise since it took him so much longer to reach milestones than Mason.  I made the turtle cake and Jane made the bunny cake - I thought they both turned out really cute!
The birthday boys waiting for their cakes.
While he was eating his cake he kept saying, "mmmm....chocolate".  I'd say he's got pretty good taste so far in his life!
A few things about Jonathan:
- He loves to talk and he's really good at it.  It's actually crazy how clearly he can annunciate his words for how young he is.
- Just like his brother, he loves anything with wheels and building roads for his cars and trucks to drive on.
- He loves to play outside any chance he can get and he LOVES dirt (hence the reason we got him a sandbox).
- He is our cuddler - he will still come and want to cuddle with me or his daddy.  He's such a sweetheart in that way.  He is definitely a softy when it comes to giving loves.
- He loves babies!  I'm actually interested to see how he does with our new little one when we bring him home.  He loves to smother babies in kisses.
- He doesn't like noodles.  This puzzles me every time - how could a kid not like noodles?
- He can be very sensitive to others - he's always very concerned when another kid is crying.

Happy Birthday buddy!  We love you!  Keep those cuddles comin'!

I LOVE the tortoise and the hare theme. So clever! It must have been your idea because we both know Jane's not that smart.

That was an awesome theme.... and yeah. Alli doesn't like Mac N' Cheese- soda- and it's just been a year or so that she's even liked french fries...

Kids are so funny.

Can't believe how quickly Jonathan's 2nd birthday came! Time has just flown!

He's such a cute little guy!

Your children are the product of your supreme mothering skills. Andrea, you're a good mom. Johnny is a cutie. I love when his cheeks jiggle when he runs. It's hysterical!
